Happy Birthday Cootie Williams
Trumpeter Cootie was an integral part of Duke Ellington’s (his “Concerto For Cootie” is now better known as “Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me”) and Benny Goodman’s bands. He’s also notable for being the first artist to record Thelonious Monk’s “‘Round Midnight.”
